How to Celebrate the Seasonal Changes in Your Life

Seasonal changes can be like the changes that we experience in life.

The earth prepares for rest in autumn. The trees start to shed beautiful hues of orange and red. Temperatures begin to drop and animals prepare their harvest.

Winter creeps in with cold and dreary changes, causing many things to die off. Shades of blue and grey linger in the air and water forms into ice.

Spring and summer create new life, new blooms, sunshine and bright colors. Animals come out of hibernation and little ones are born.

The changing of seasons reminds us that our life requires change and growth. Autumn and winter can create cloudiness and sadness, causing us to hunker down inside somewhere. This is nature’s way of slowing us down. It is a time for rest, rejuvenation and preparation for the next season.

seasonal changes quote by yoko ono

Do you honor the seasonal changes in your life?
Changes through moves or new jobs?
Births, deaths and family crisis’?
Failures and successes?
Marriage or divorce?

We can adapt and grow through these seasonal changes by taking time for self-care. Our busy lives make us think we don’t have time for ourselves. We often feel guilty about it when we do but it’s time to let go of the guilt and celebrate the seasonal changes in our lives.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most), how much time do you give yourself?

Allowing yourself the time and space for restoration is the key to self-care. Remember, it takes baby steps. You can do simple things like de-cluttering your home or mind, detoxing your body by eating seasonal, local fruits and vegetables or using daylight saving time to stay outside longer and get vitamin-d from the sun.

Write this mantra down and repeat it daily.
“Rest. Renew. Refresh. Re-energize. Repeat.”
